Welcome to 2014. Lots of students and parents will be aware of my role at Darley Primary School. However, I would like to introduce myself to the new Prep families and other families new to our school. My name is Sharon Sperlingand my position at Darley Primary School is: Wellbeing Officer (formally Welfare Officer).
Darley Primary School was fortunate to have access to some extra funding to increase my role from two days a week to four days a week this year. I will be available on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. My room is the portable with the bubbles painted on it towards the school oval.
Some of the activities that I will be running this year include: supporting individual students as needed, running Social Skills groups for students, running The Seasons for Growth program for students who have experienced separation, loss or grief. I will be hosting games in my room on Tuesday lunchtimes for those students who would like to play board games.
I will be running regular parent information sessions for those parents who would like to be involved in gaining strategies to help their children socially both in and out of school. There will be special projects happening throughout the year for students at all year levels. Keep checking the website for more information.
I have been collecting lots of information for parents who may need some extra support for their families. If you would like to have a chat or come and get some information please come and see me at the Student Support Centre, (just look out for the colourful bubbles). I look forward to meeting you as the year goes on.
